General comments on submissions

The preferred way to submit posts and ideas is through the web form, which prompts you to provide all of the required information. The link to the web form is on the main page, and you can either submit a new response to the current suggestion, or else a new suggestion along with a corresponding response.

You can also reach me by email, which is useful for special requests, for example if you wish to advise me that your blog has moved or that you'd like me to change something.

Submission by email is possible if you really want to. Please include:

The link, title, and publication date of the blog post.
If it's your first contribution, the name of your blog and a link to the front page.
A possible wording if it's a new blog post suggestion.
The topic ID number if it's a response to an existing suggestion.

Remember that all submissions are moderated. They won't appear until I approve them, and may appear in a modified form.

Posts

You can submit both new posts and old ones. Perhaps you'd like to write something in response to one of the ideas on this site, or perhaps you wrote something long ago that happens to fit one of the topics. All are welcome.

Because the suggestion changes each time you press the Next Suggestion button, you'll want to bookmark the suggestion you've chosen while you write your response. For this reason, there's a permanent link to whichever suggestion is currently displayed in the top right corner of the main page. Notice that this link includes a topic ID number for each suggestion.

Please don't submit posts from any blog other than your own, at least not without the blog owner's approval.

New suggestions

New blog post suggestions are very welcome. These must be topics you've written about yourself, because you have to submit an exemplary blog post along with each new suggestion.

If you're not sure whether a similar suggestion is already on the site, go ahead and submit it. I will merge suggestions that are too alike.

Some tips for choosing suitable topic suggestions:

Not all topics are suitable for this site. Probably most are not.
Choose timeless topics that will still be as meaningful in a decade or two, and avoid anything connected with current affairs.
Don't choose topics that are almost broad enough to include the entire Internet. "Write about something interesting that happened recently" is not a suitable topic.
Avoid topics involving political advocacy and other controversial issues. Topics that involve opinions should be matters of personal taste and experience.
